The Alignment Task Force will be posting updates after each meeting and as data become available. You are invited to share your comments for the Task Force and others to see; however, there will be no written responses.
I find this report very interesting and very true. I really like the comparison of the Annual Conference to a large local church.
ReplyDeleteI would like to know how the Alignment Task Force has reacted to this report and to know more details about the proposed alignment, although I'm assuming the entire Annual Conference will receive this information soon since the Called Annual Conference is exactly 2 months from today.

Is Gil Rendle Methodist?
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in knowing how many students were interviewed during the screening of the 27 CTC members. I appreciate all the work of the task force and look forward to Called Annual Conference.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the Task Force sharing this report with us. I especially like the irony of linking to a document that says on it's cover "Not a Public Document"!
ReplyDeleteThe task force appreciates the comments and questions. Yes Gil Rendle is a United Methodist and has led many Conferences through this process. Also, the report was not a public document till the task force accepted and approved it which was done. May you continue to support this important journey with your prayers.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I cannot imagine the papers, books, suggestions, etc., you all have sorted through over these past 15 months. Thank you for agreeing to take this on.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading Rendle's report, one thing stood out to me that I want to share. In point 3 on page 6, the "staff specialists," which I assume refers to the Associate Directors, among others, characterizes them as functioning primarily through "information sharing" and identifies this as a method, usually, of seeking to improve people.
I would like to offer an alternate account of the roles these persons perform. Networking and relationship-building have been key served in addition to information sharing. There are benefits for local churches of all sizes when someone centrally located (bureaucratically) as these "staff specialists" are, for missional efforts of our churches and of the CTC.
Respectfully,
